“It’s great news for our fans, because we’ve been struggling to get the sweatshirts to market in the U.S. for a while now, and I think we finally have a chance to get these sweatshorts made in our hometown of Milwaukee,” Nike’s chief operating officer for apparel and technology, Matt Oster, told reporters on Tuesday.
“We’ve been working on the sweatpants for a number of years, and we finally are finally making the final push.”
The company’s first pair of Nike sweatpants were unveiled in September, but the sweats were made only in China, which has a long history of producing sweatshoots.
“In our history, Nike has only been making sweatpants and sweatpants in China,” Oster said.
“I think it’s a huge opportunity, especially in a country like China, where we have a lot of people who are working on these things.”
