Nike is expected to unveil a range of new shoes and socks this week that will be sold in stores.
The announcement will come as the company announces a major overhaul of its retail operation in Australia.CEO Kevin Johnson said it was a great time to refresh the company’s retail footprint.
“We have a lot of new stores opening across Australia this year, and I think that’s a great opportunity to refresh our store footprint in the country,” he said.
“I’m also really excited about the Nike Sport Swear line that we announced in January.”
The company will also be adding a new line of women’s sports and casual shoes, including a pair of Nike trainers.
“Our goal for 2017 is to bring in 100,000 new shoes per week to our retail footprint, which will give us the opportunity to invest more in our footwear offering,” he added.
Nike has been targeting women’s athletic footwear for more than a decade, and has expanded the line into a range for men.
The company said it expected to increase the size of its online store to include more women’s brands, and that it was looking to increase its sales to 50 per cent more than last year.
“For the second year in a row we had a very strong return on investment for the brand, with an average return on invested capital of 26 per cent,” Mr Johnson said.
The changes are expected to start on October 17, with the footwear line debuting at the start of November.
“It’s a big day for us, and we’re delighted to see it coming to us at such a critical time,” Mr Smith said.
